No-Flying Zone Declared at Jharsuguda Airport Ahead of President Murmu’s Visit

Bhubaneswar, 19 November (H.S.): The Jharsuguda District Magistrate and Collector, Chavan Kunal Motiram, has declared the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport and its surrounding airspace a No-Flying Zone in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit. The restrictions will be in force from the afternoon of November 19 until her departure on November 20.

The directive was issued following a request from Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, citing the need for heightened air-security measures during the VVIP movement.

Under the order, all unauthorised aerial activities—including drones, paragliders, and any other flying objects—are strictly prohibited to ensure the President’s safety.

President Murmu is expected to land at VSS Airport at 10:05 am after departing from Delhi’s Dalam Airport (IAF area). She will then travel to Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, before returning to Jharsuguda and subsequently proceeding to Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

Authorities have urged residents, drone operators, and aviation service providers to comply with the restrictions. Any violation of the No-Flying Zone order will attract legal action under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023.
