Bhubaneswar, 1 November (H.S.): The Gajapati district administration has reopened the popular tourist destination Mahendragiri for visitors, a week after it was temporarily closed due to concerns over possible landslides triggered by Cyclone Montha.
The site had remained closed since October 25, 2025, as a precautionary measure to ensure visitor safety during and after the cyclone. With the weather conditions stabilizing and no further threat of landslides, the administration has decided to lift the restrictions.
In addition to Mahendragiri, all restrictions imposed on waterfalls and other tourist spots across the district have also been withdrawn.
The administration has, however, urged tourists to strictly adhere to safety guidelines while visiting Mahendragiri and nearby attractions.
