05 Oct (HS): During checking, under Saifai police station in Etawah district of
Uttar Pradesh arrested a Kathawachak (storyteller) who was carrying a deer in
his car. The police handed over the deer to the forest department team and
started investigation into the matter. District Forest Officer Vikas Nayak
informed the forest department on Sunday that during checking, the police team
arrested the storyteller along with a deer from a car. The forest department
team took the deer into custody from the police. On questioning the arrested
storyteller, he told his name as Abhilakh Shastri, resident of Bhind, Madhya
Pradesh.
He
told the police that he was traveling from Bhind to Aligarh in his car. On the
way, he spotted a deer surrounded by some dogs and harassing it. To protect it
from the dogs, he took the deer into his car and promised to hand it over to
the police later. Police and forest department teams are now investigating
whether the narrator is telling the truth or whether he was taking the deer
with the intention of smuggling it. If found guilty, legal action will be taken
against the narrator.
