05 Oct (HS): Rajeshwar Rao N, Under Secretary (Seeds), Department of

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,

Government of India, New Delhi, visited the Notified State Seed Testing

Laboratory under the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sam

Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS),

Naini, Prayagraj.

During

the visit, he was briefed about the ongoing projects, research activities, and

the progress being made in the field of seed testing and quality enhancement. Rao

expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the laboratory and appreciated

the initiatives undertaken for strengthening seed research and development.

Accompanying

the visit were Dr. S. D. Maecarty, Director Research, Dr. Vaidurya Pratap Sahi,

Head, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Dr. Prashant Kumar Rai,

Associate Professor, Dr. Bazil Avinash Singh, along with other faculty members

and officials of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding.

The

visit marked an encouraging step in fostering strong linkages between the

Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and SHUATS towards advancing seed

quality assurance and agricultural innovation.
