TVK Founder Velmurugan Slams Vijay for Three-Day Delay in Responding to Karur Tragedy

Chennai, 4 October (H.S.) : T Velmurugan, President of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), strongly criticised TVK President and actor Vijay on Friday, asserting that the actor should have issued a public apology immediately following the Karur stampede, instead of posting a video three days after the event. The tragedy claimed 41 lives, including women and children.

Speaking to reporters in Tiruchy after meeting with his party cadre, Velmurugan pointed out that actor Vijay waited for three days to post a video reacting to the incident. Velmurugan stated that the actor should have reacted as soon as the incident took place and sought a public apology for the tragedy. Instead, he fled the town.

Velmurugan, whose party is an ally of the DMK, further heightened his criticism by claiming that Vijay's video appeared to be a villainous dialogue against the State government, and that this attitude earned the actor the wrath of the people.

Additionally, he highlighted the drug peddling charges levelled against Vijay by singer Suchitra, and criticized the police department for allegedly failing to take action against the actor regarding those charges.
