Patna, October 4(HS): Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to visit Patna today for a day-long programme aimed at promoting agricultural innovation and farmer welfare in Bihar.
As part of his visit, Chouhan will attend the Makhana Festival at Gyan Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan, focusing on expanding Bihar’s makhana (fox nut) production and increasing farmers’ income through value addition and market linkages. Prior to this, he will take part in a tree plantation programme at the same venue around 12:30 pm.
Later in the afternoon, at 2:30 pm, the Union Minister will participate in the Rabi Workshop and Agricultural Advisory Dialogue at Bapu Sabhagar, Gandhi Maidan. The interactive session will include farmers, agricultural experts, and representatives of farmer producer organisations (FPOs).
Discussions will centre around key government initiatives such as the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, adoption of innovative farming techniques, and strategies to boost the productivity and prosperity of Bihar’s farmers.
Chouhan’s visit underscores the Centre’s continued focus on empowering farmers through technology, credit access, and collaboration, reinforcing Bihar’s role as an emerging hub of agricultural innovation in eastern India.
