Kolkata, 4 October (H.S.) Airline services, severely impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic, have now fully returned to normal. Durga Puja has further enhanced this recovery. This Puja season has seen a dramatic increase in passenger traffic at Kolkata Airport.
According to airport sources, more than 253,000 passengers travelled through Kolkata Airport between September 27th and 30th (Panchami to Ashtami). This is approximately 130 percent more than the average number on normal days.
The highest passenger traffic was seen on Shashthi (September 28th). On that day, 30,140 passengers departed from Kolkata for various parts of the country, while 30,179 passengers arrived from other cities.
International flights also saw the highest passenger traffic on that day. According to data, 3,889 passengers departed from Kolkata for international destinations, and 3,230 arrived in Kolkata.
Aviation sources said this is the highest number ever, reflecting the excitement and travel enthusiasm of this festive season.
