Man Dies After Hitting Height Barrier During Durga Idol Immersion Procession in Kolkata
Kolkata, 4 October (H.S.). A 32-year-old man died in a tragic accident during a Durga idol immersion procession in south Kolkata on Friday night. The incident took place in the Alipore area when the victim struck his head against a height barrier.

A 32-year-old man died in a tragic accident during a Durga idol immersion procession in south Kolkata on Friday night. The incident took place in the Alipore area when the victim struck his head against a height barrier.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Utsav Chatterjee, a member of a local club in Behala. He was riding atop a vehicle carrying the idol when he collided with a height restriction barrier near the Zerut Bridge in Alipore around 11 p.m.

Chatterjee suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to SSKM Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

The immersion procession was headed towards Kadamtala Ghat in Batanagar under Budge Budge police limits when the accident occurred. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
