04 Oct (HS): Late last night in Amethi, Manish Yadav alias Ganesh Yadav alias
Mintu, a notorious inter-district criminal carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000, was
injured during a police encounter. He was shot in his left leg. The criminal
was primarily involved in cow smuggling. Acting on a tip-off from an informant,
the SWAT and surveillance teams, along with the Ramganj police station,
confronted the criminal near Bair Ghat in a joint operation at around 2 am.
The
district's Additional Superintendent of Police, Gyanendra Kumar Singh, said on
Saturday that a pistol, a live cartridge, an empty 315-bore cartridge, and a
motorcycle used in cow smuggling were recovered from the scene. The injured
criminal, Manish Yadav, son of Shivlal, is originally a resident of Kaitha,
Alinagar police station, Chandauli district. Several serious cases have already
been filed against him, and further legal action is underway.
