Siliguri, 4 October (H.S.) At least four people were killed and three others seriously injured when a vehicle fell into a deep gorge along National Highway 10 in Kalimpong on Friday night.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. near Melli Kirani in Kalimpong police station area. The car, which was travelling from Patherjhora to Gangtok, reportedly skidded off the road and plunged nearly 50 feet into a gorge.
The deceased have been identified as Kamal Subba (44), who was driving the vehicle, Samira Subba (20), Januka Darjee, and Neeta Gurung. All of them were residents of the Bojoghari area.
The injured, Sunita Thapa, Sandria Rai, and Samiul Darjee, have been admitted to Melli Sikkim Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
