Patna, October 4(HS): Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and S.S. Sandhu, arrived in Patna on Saturday for a two-day visit to assess preparations for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The commission's team will meet with representatives of major political parties on October 4 and 5.
The Election Commission has invited prominent parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Congress for the consultation meetings. However, Mukesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insaan Party, Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha have not received invitations.
Comprehensive Review Schedule
The Election Commission team, chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner, will first hold discussions with political party representatives to gather their suggestions and expectations regarding the electoral process.Following the political consultations, the commission will meet with all divisional commissioners, inspectors general of police, deputy inspectors general, district election officers, and senior police officials across Bihar to review administrative and law enforcement preparations for the elections.
On October 5, the team will conduct separate meetings with nodal officers to evaluate preparedness for ensuring a level playing field and fair electoral environment. The Chief Election Commissioner and commission members will also hold discussions with state police nodal officers and Central Armed Police Forces nodal officers.
Press Conference Scheduled
The Chief Election Commissioner and the commission's team will address a press conference at 2 PM on October 5 in Patna, where they will provide detailed guidelines regarding assembly election preparations. The primary objective of the Election Commission's review visit is to ensure the Bihar Assembly General Elections 2025 are conducted in a free, fair, peaceful, and transparent manner.
