India tightened their grip on the first Test match against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, reducing the visitors to 66 for five wickets by lunch on Day 3. The hosts need just five more wickets to seal victory, while West Indies still trail by 220 runs and face the threat of an innings defeat.India declared their first innings at 448 for five this morning, building on yesterday's score to establish a commanding 286-run lead.

The West Indies' second innings began disastrously as the Indian bowlers struck repeatedly in the morning session.Mohammed Siraj provided the breakthrough, dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul for eight with the total at 12. Nitish Reddy took a brilliant catch at square leg to complete the dismissal.

Ravindra Jadeja then produced a double strike, removing John Campbell (14) and Brandon King (5) to leave West Indies reeling at 34 for three. Kuldeep Yadav joined the attack to bowl captain Roston Chase for just one run, before Jadeja claimed his third wicket by dismissing Shai Hope (1) with the score on 46.Alick Athanaze (27 not out) and Justin Greaves (10 not out) steadied the innings temporarily, preventing further damage before the lunch interval.

First Innings Dominance

India's imposing first-innings total was built on centuries from KL Rahul (100), Dhruv Jurel (125), and Ravindra Jadeja (104 not out). Captain Shubman Gill also contributed a valuable half-century of 50 runs.West Indies were dismissed for a meagre 162 in their first innings, setting up India's dominant position in the match.
