Noida, 31 Oct
(HS): On Friday, a calibration flight by the Airports Authority of India (AAI)
successfully landed at Noida International Airport, marking a critical milestone
in the airport's operationalisation, according to authorities. According to a
statement published by the Uttar Pradesh government, this critical test, which
is undertaken before each new airport is operational, confirms the accuracy of
the airport's navigation and communication systems. The calibration flight's
successful completion represents a significant step forward for Jewar airport,
bringing it closer to satisfying international aviation safety requirements and
speeding the process of obtaining operating permission, according to the
statement. According to authorities, a calibration flight is a specialized test
operation that ensures the airport's Instrument Landing System (ILS), radar,
and air navigation systems meet international safety requirements.
During the
exercise, specially outfitted aircraft fly at various heights and angles to
evaluate the strength, stability, and precision of signals sent by ground
equipment. According to the statement, the procedure entails collaboration
among flight inspectors, technical engineers, and air traffic control (ATC)
professionals. AAI's calibration aircraft are outfitted with modern measuring
devices that collect real-time data during flight. This data is painstakingly
evaluated to detect and remedy any technical abnormalities, assuring the
greatest level of system correctness, the company stated. The first phase of
the greenfield Noida International Airport is slated to open soon. However, the exact date has yet to be
disclosed.
