Chennai, 31 October (H.S.) : A 43-year-old woman and her two daughters have been arrested in Pudukkottai district, Tamil Nadu, for the brutal murder of her husband, Palanivel (55), a painter. The chilling crime was uncovered when police recovered the deceased's body, which had been secretly buried near their house in Mallangudi village. The three accused were quickly taken into custody following a thorough investigation.
Police investigation revealed that the motive for the murder stemmed from protracted domestic disputes. According to statements from the authorities, the victim, Palanivel, had stopped going to work due to a medical condition involving fatty lumps, which led to constant and bitter quarrels with his wife, Mahalakshmi.
The crime came to light only after Palanivel’s sister, Kaveri, filed a missing person complaint when she was unable to contact him for several days. Mahalakshmi had initially attempted to mislead family members by claiming her husband was away in Coimbatore receiving treatment.
Upon intense interrogation, Mahalakshmi confessed to the crime, admitting she killed her husband during a domestic quarrel and buried the body with the help of her two daughters, Tamilselvi (25) and Saratha (20). Following the confession, police officials immediately took the three accused women to the location. The decomposed body was exhumed for examination.
Authorities confirmed that doctors conducted a postmortem examination at the site before the body was reburied. All three accused individuals—the mother and her two daughters—have since been arrested and remanded in judicial custody, pending further legal proceedings.
