The day, celebrated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), honors the enduring legacy of India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
President Murmu began the day's solemn observances by visiting Sardar Patel Chowk in the heart of New Delhi. There, she paid her respects before the prominent statue of the revered leader, whose indomitable will and foresight were instrumental in forging the modern Indian republic.
Later in the morning, the President paid further tribute at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential residence. In a formal ceremony, she offered floral tributes to a portrait of Sardar Patel, acknowledging his monumental contributions to the nation's integration and administrative framework.
