Lucknow/Siwan
Bihar, 31 Oct (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused
Congress Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru of insulting the country's first
President, Rajendra Prasad, by refusing to attend the inauguration of the
restored Somnath temple. A top BJP leader made the comment while addressing an
electoral rally in Bihar's Siwan district, which is where Prasad was born. People
in Bihar have rejected the Congress because it has disrespected pioneers such
as Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rajendra Prasad, and Karpoori
Thakur. Even the party's own previous
president, Sitaram Kesri, who is from this state, was humiliated, according to
Adityanath. He further stated that when Rajendra babu intended to attend the
inauguration of the Somnath temple in Gujarat, Congress Prime Minister Nehru
urged him not to go.
But it was a
matter of faith for Rajendra babu, who declared he would sooner give up his
post than not attend the occasion, according to the Uttar Pradesh chief
minister during the rally. The BJP leader further said that the Congress and
its Bihar allies RJD have always been disrespectful to our heritage, citing the
stopping of Lord Ram's chariot as an evident allusion to the arrest of BJP
founder Lal Krishna Advani while on the Ram Rath Yatra decades ago. Yogi also
pointed out that the Centre's affidavit filed before the Supreme Court when the
Congress-led UPA was in power stated that there was no evidence of Lord Ram's
existence. However, both the BJP and the NDA have always valued our heritage. We
fulfilled our commitment to build the Ram temple at Ayodhya (mandir wahin
banayenge – on the site of the disputed edifice known as the Babri
Masjid), Adityanath added.
He further stated
that if the NDA held power in Bihar, the mafia will be eradicated, just as it
is in Uttar Pradesh, where they are deprived of their ill-gotten gains and many
have been consigned to hell. Notably, the
Yogi Adityanath administration has been known to demolish criminal properties,
earning the nickname bulldozer baba, and a number of feared
gangsters have been slain in police encounters in recent years.
