SEOUL, 30 October (H.S.): United States President Donald Trump is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping for high-stakes talks in South Korea on Thursday. The summit represents the first meeting between the two world leaders since President Trump returned to the White House and occurs during a period of escalating tensions between the two nations.
The meeting is set to begin at 11am local time – in one hour – in Busan, a port city about 76km (47 miles) south of Gyeongju, the Apec summit’s main venue.
The agenda for the talks is expected to be extensive, addressing several points of friction that have developed over the past few months. Discussions will likely focus on critical issues such as ongoing trade disputes and the status of the social media app TikTok. The outcome of this significant meeting is anticipated to have considerable consequences for the global economy.
