(HS): As many as 505 people in Amravati used fake documents to derive benefits

under various government schemes, including getting Aadhar Cards and jobs. The

information came to the fore during investigation initiated following charges

levelled by former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya of issuing Aadhar Cards on fake

documents to Bangladeshi and Rohingyas.

A formal complaint was

also lodged with the City Kotwali. Initial enquiry revealed that the addresses

mentioned in the application forms were fake. Many applicants had mentioned the

same postal address of their residence. Most of the applicants are from a

specific community. Many of them are women. Offences against them have been

registered.

Investigation into

the charges by Somaiya is in progress.
