Ahmedabad, October 3(HS): On the second day of the opening Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Indian opener KL Rahul produced a magnificent century against the West Indies. This knock marked his second Test hundred on home soil.Rahul reached the milestone in style, completing his century off 190 balls. In the 65th over, he brought up the three-figure mark with a single off West Indies skipper Roston Chase.
His previous Test hundred in India had come nine years ago in Chennai against England, where he narrowly missed a double century after being dismissed for 199.Rahul enjoyed a stroke of luck in the morning session.
On 57, in the day’s very first over, he edged a delivery that flew between the wicketkeeper and first slip. The slip cordon had been placed wider than usual, and the West Indies missed a golden opportunity. Rahul capitalised on that reprieve to build his innings.This knock is Rahul’s 11th Test century overall.
At lunch on Day 2, Rahul was unbeaten on 100, while Dhruv Jurel was not out on 14. India moved to 218 for 3 by the break.
