(HS): The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has issued a

statement demanding transfer of the Phaltan Medical Officer’s rape and suicide

case to an independent SIT under judicial supervision.

MARD has also

expressed concern over possible political and administrative interference in

the enquiry against a Police Sub-Inspector and one other individual.

MARD has also

demanded implementation of the Health Protection Act, formation of an independent

Medical Grievance Redressal Authority and mental health support system for

doctors. MARD has condemned the defamatory remarks by media and insensitive

statement by the Women’s Commission Chairperson.

MARD has threatened

to intensify the protest, including rallies and mass gatherings across the

state.
