Hyderabad, Oct 29 (HS):
In view of the severe weather conditions triggered by Cyclone Montha, the South Central Railway (SCR) has urged passengers to undertake train travel only if absolutely necessary.
Heavy rains, flash floods, and waterlogging have severely affected several parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and coastal regions, disrupting rail traffic and infrastructure.
According to SCR officials, the Mahabubabad–Dornakal–Khammam section has been particularly impacted, leading to cancellations, partial cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling of several trains. They cautioned that further operational changes may occur depending on the evolving weather situation.
To ensure continuous monitoring, war rooms have been established at both divisional and zonal levels, with officials coordinating closely with State authorities. Railway staff, Civil Defence teams, and Scouts & Guides are engaged in rescue and relief operations in affected areas.
Passengers have been advised to check real-time train status before travel through official platforms such as IRCTC, NTES, RailOne, or by calling 139. Updates on cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling will also be shared via SMS alerts and media outlets.
For passenger assistance, Help Desks and Helplines have been set up at all major railway stations across divisions.
