
South 24 Parganas, 29 October (H.S.): The body of a transgender was recovered from roadside bushes in Tullane area under Usthi police station in South 24 Parganas district on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sonali, a resident of the Mandirbazar police station area.
According to local sources, Sonali was a frequent visitor to the Tullane area. She suddenly went missing on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday morning, locals discovered her body in the roadside bushes and immediately informed the police. The police from Usthi police station arrived at the scene, took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem. The police initially suspect that Sonali was murdered in the dark of night.
At present, the motive behind the murder is unclear. The police are investigating whether it is the result of a personal grudge or whether Sonali was targeted for some other reason.
A police officer from Usthi police station said, All possible aspects of the incident are being investigated. Local residents are being questioned, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined. He also said that a special investigation team has been formed to investigate the case, and Sonali's family members will also be questioned.
