Lucknow, 29
Oct (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,
has taken another landmark decision to strengthen the quality and accessibility
of higher education in the state. Kashi Naresh Government Post Graduate
College, Gyanpur, Bhadohi (Sant Ravidas Nagar) will be established as Kashi
Naresh University, Bhadohi.
Under this
decision, the Uttar Pradesh State University Act, 1973, will be amended. To
this end, the state government has proposed promulgating the Uttar Pradesh
State University (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025. Necessary changes will be made to
Section 4, Section 50, Section 52, and the schedule of the amendment act to
enable the formal establishment of the proposed university. Higher Education
Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the state government's objective is to
provide students from rural and backward areas with opportunities for higher
education within their own districts, preventing them from migrating to
metropolitan cities. The establishment of Kashi Naresh University, Bhadohi,
will not only provide high-quality education to students in the district but
will also provide a new direction to educational activities throughout the
Purvanchal region.
He said that
the Uttar Pradesh government has already taken several steps to ensure quality,
employment-oriented, and accessible higher education in the state. By
establishing new universities, increasing autonomy, and emphasizing
research-oriented education, the government has given the state a new identity
in the field of higher education. The establishment of Kashi Naresh University
will be another powerful chapter in this series.
