
Bhubaneswar, 29 October (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported widespread heavy rainfall across several districts of Odisha under the influence of Cyclone Montha, which brushed past the state’s coast late Tuesday.
According to IMD data recorded at 8:30 am on October 29, 2025, Gosani in Gajapati district received the highest rainfall of 150.5 mm, followed by Patrapur in Ganjam with 117.4 mm, and Jaipur in Balasore with 109.8 mm.
Other areas that experienced significant rainfall include Gumma in Gajapati (94.0 mm), Udala in Mayurbhanj (105.0 mm), Hatadihi in Keonjhar (71.2 mm), Remuna in Balasore (71.0 mm), and Purusottampur in Ganjam (100.6 mm).
The IMD has classified rainfall intensity in several regions as “Very Heavy Rainfall” and “Heavy Rainfall”, with two monitoring stations recording very heavy precipitation and 31 stations registering heavy rainfall levels.
Meanwhile, the IMD has advised district administrations to remain alert for possible waterlogging, minor flooding, and landslides in hilly and low-lying areas, as intermittent rain is expected to continue in southern and coastal Odisha for the next 24 hours.
