Moradabad, 28
Oct (HS): Uttar Pradesh is experiencing excellent progress in fish production
compared to other states. Fish seeds and other materials are now being exported
from Uttar Pradesh to other states. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, Cabinet Minister
for Fisheries, Uttar Pradesh, stated this on Tuesday at the Circuit House in
Moradabad during a review meeting regarding the progress of public welfare
schemes and programs being implemented by the central and state governments to
promote the welfare of fish farmers and promote fish farming.
While giving
information about the departmental schemes, the Cabinet Minister said that
there are 850 ponds of the village society in Moradabad district, in comparison
to which 776 ponds have been leased. 1,336 fishermen in the district are
covered under the Group Fishermen Accident Insurance, and under the Uttar
Pradesh Fishermen Welfare Fund Scheme, solar lights and high mast lights have
been installed in fishermen-dominated villages. He stated that Moradabad
district has immense potential for fisheries, and therefore, fisheries are
being encouraged as a form of self-employment for fishermen. The Kisan Credit
