MENLO PARK, California, 28 October (H.S.): In a significant move underscoring its commitment to artificial intelligence, Meta Platforms announced on Monday the appointment of company insider Vishal Shah to a key role heading product management for its AI products.The appointment is a clear signal of the technology giant's intensified focus on the booming sector, as it directs top talent and resources to compete with industry rivals like Microsoft and OpenAI.

Shah's transition highlights a strategic realignment within the company, prioritizing AI development.Shah is a long-serving executive at Meta, having been vice president of the company's Metaverse division since 2021. Before that, he was in charge of product management for Instagram for more than six years.

In his new position, Shah will report to Nat Friedman, Meta's head of AI product.This management reshuffle comes just a week after Meta announced it was streamlining its AI unit by cutting approximately 600 roles in its Superintelligence Labs, a move intended to make the division more flexible and responsive to the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
