Chennai, 28 October (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin conducted an unexpected visit to the Greater Chennai Corporation Command and Control Centre headquarters this Tuesday morning.

The facility, which operates 24/7, is crucial for monitoring vital city parameters, including rainfall levels, traffic flow through subway surveillance, and water conditions in drains and river-mouth outlets, ensuring the city is prepared for quick emergency responses.

The inspection focused on the centre’s efficiency in handling public grievances. Mr. Stalin meticulously checked the records for complaints logged via the 1913 helpline, verifying that they were properly recorded and that appropriate action was initiated. A significant part of the review was dedicated to the center's social media response system.

He examined the volume and nature of complaints received online, including the details, photos, and videos submitted by citizens. The Deputy CM analyzed the response time and follow-up, ensuring citizens provided feedback after issues were rectified.

Mr. Stalin further reviewed whether complaints were promptly forwarded to the respective zonal officers, closely scrutinizing the time taken by officials to resolve these issues. He also monitored real-time CCTV footage of various subways from the command centre to confirm smooth traffic flow and assessed rainfall intensity across different parts of the city.

Officials and staff members present participated in the inspection, offering a comprehensive briefing to the Deputy Chief Minister on the centre's operational protocols, workflow management, and ongoing city monitoring activities, affirming their readiness to handle any civic challenges.
