Bhubaneswar, 28 October (H.S.): Chief Minister ri Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the Chhath Puja celebrations held at the newly developed Bali Jatra Ground in Mancheshwar, Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Odisha government is committed to strengthening the values of brotherhood, harmony, and cultural unity, adding that Chhath Puja in Odisha stands as a symbol of this unity.
Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Priyanka Mardi, the Chief Minister performed the rituals and offered Arghya to the Sun God, praying for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state.
Speaking on the spiritual significance of the festival, CM Majhi said, “Chhath Puja teaches us that the true foundation of life lies in nature — in water, air, and the energy of the Sun. Through this festival, we express our gratitude towards nature and the environment and draw inspiration from it.”
He further added, “The most remarkable aspect of Chhath Puja is its simplicity — it is free from display and extravagance. The festival embodies purity, discipline, and devotion, which form its true essence.”
Highlighting the growing cultural integration, the Chief Minister said that while Chhath Puja has traditionally been celebrated in northern Indian states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, it is heartening to see the festival now being observed with great enthusiasm and devotion across Odisha.
Concluding his remarks, CM Majhi expressed hope that Odisha will continue to progress on the path of development, empowering its farmers, workers, youth, and women, and ensuring that every household is filled with happiness and prosperity.
The event was attended by Vishwas Foundation President Shri Rajkumar, Vice President Shri Ajay Bahadur Singh, General Secretary Shri Ashok Bhagat, Bihar Development Council Coordinator Shri Anand Mohan, and several other dignitaries.
