Oct (HS): A shootout broke out between police and criminals in the Kotwali
Dehat and Motigarpur police station areas of Sultanpur district in Uttar
Pradesh during wee hours. Five criminals were arrested. Three of them were shot
in the leg during the encounter. All three were admitted to the hospital for
treatment.
A police
spokesperson stated on Tuesday that Kotwali Dehat police were checking
suspicious individuals at the Pakhrauli railway crossing, when they spotted
three suspects on a motorcycle. Cops attempted to stop them, but they fled.
While pursuing them, the motorcycle skidded a short distance, and all three
fell. One of the suspects opened fire on the police team. Police returned fire,
shooting Mukesh, a suspect in the leg, who fell. Lalu and Raj alias Chhotu,
along with the injured suspect, were apprehended at the scene. The arrested
suspects have been identified as Mukesh, son of Ramdaur, Lalu, son of Mahendra,
and Raj alias Chhotu, son of Sanjay. They are all residents of Firozpur
Shahpur, Jalalpur police station, Ambedkar Nagar district. According to police,
the injured Mukesh and the arrested Lalu have extensive criminal histories.
They have cases registered against them in various police stations under
various sections, including theft, the Arms Act, and the Gangster Act.
Meanwhile,
Motigarh police were patrolling the Belwari turn at night. Three suspicious
individuals were seen approaching on a motorcycle from Lambhua. When police
attempted to stop them, they fled. Two suspects, alighting from the motorcycle,
opened fire on police. Police returned fire, striking both suspects in the leg.
The injured suspects have been identified as Neeraj Lona, alias Jailer, and
Sameer, alias Samar Lona, residents of Shahpur Firozpur, Jalalpur police
station, Ambedkar Nagar. Neeraj Lona, alias Jailer, has a lengthy criminal
history, with numerous cases registered against him in Ambedkar Nagar and
Amethi. Sameer, alias Samar Lona, also has a criminal record. He has cases
registered against him in Azamgarh, Sultanpur, and Ambedkar Nagar under theft,
the POCSO Act, and other related sections.
