Seven tourists from Kolkata injured in road accident at Jhargram’s Mayurjharna


Jhargram, 27 October (H.S.): Seven tourists from Kolkata's Behala area were injured in a road accident in Jhargram on Sunday evening. The accident occurred in the Mayurjharna area under Banspahari police station when a car lost control and crashed into a tree.

According to local sources, locals immediately began rescue operations after the accident, and the injured were rushed to the Odolchua Primary Health Center. Among the injured, Piu Naskar and his daughter Sahi are said to be in critical condition. Both were later transferred to Jhargram Medical College and Hospital.

The police said the seven tourists had arrived in Jhargram by train from Behala on Saturday and were staying at a private guesthouse. On Sunday, they were traveling from Kankrajhora Road in Belpahari towards Banspahari when their vehicle suddenly lost control and crashed near Mayurjharna.

Injured tourist Banshi Malakar said, Everything was going well, but suddenly the car went out of control and hit a tree. We never imagined such an accident in the middle of the forest. We are deeply grateful for the help provided by the local people, tourism businesses, and police.

Shivashish Chatterjee, secretary of the Jhargram District Hotel Owners Association, said, We tried to provide immediate medical care to the injured. The police and administration also provided all possible assistance.
