Bhubaneswar, 27 October (H.S.): The Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Tangi Police Station, Siba Prasad Bhadra, has been placed under suspension for alleged illegal detention and misconduct, following orders issued by the Director General of Police (DGP).

The action comes after allegations surfaced that a man was unlawfully detained for two days during an investigation, resulting in severe mental distress that required hospitalization.

The incident pertains to Krupasindhu Pradhan, a resident of Nandua village under Salagaon panchayat in Cuttack district. Pradhan was allegedly picked up from his residence on October 21 by Tangi Police in connection with a land dispute case.

He was purportedly kept in police custody for two days without due legal process. Subsequently, his health condition deteriorated, and he was first admitted to Tangi Primary Health Centre, before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
