
Solapur, 27 Oct (HS): The heavy rains has raised the
groundwater level in Solapur by 2.25 meters. The rains led to flooding Sine and
other rivers and the Ujni Reservoir was full to the brim.
The Groundwater Survey Agency stated that the
groundwater level in Madha rose by 3.23 meters during September. In North
Solapur and Mohol it rose by 2.50 meters.
Last year more than 140 villages faced acute
shortage and had to be dependent on water supply through tankers. A survey of
158 wells was conducted and the results announced.
