Guwahati, 27 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state and all devotees on the main day of Chhath Puja — Sandhya Arghya.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that Sandhya Arghya marks the most significant part of Chhath Puja, symbolizing deep devotion, faith and harmony with nature. He said that the festival is a divine expression of gratitude towards the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for sustaining life and prosperity on earth.

“During the evening offerings, devotees gather at riverbanks and water bodies with their families to offer Arghya to the setting Sun. It is not only a moment of deep spiritual connection but also a reflection of our respect for nature and the environment,” Dr. Sarma stated.

He further urged people to celebrate the festival with devotion and enthusiasm while maintaining cleanliness and harmony. The Chief Minister highlighted that Chhath Puja, celebrated by people from various communities in Assam, has become a symbol of unity and shared cultural heritage.

Concluding his message, Dr. Sarma said, “May Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya bless everyone with happiness, peace and prosperity.”-------
