Chennai, 26 October (H.S.) : The 133-year-old historic building that once housed the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, located within the sprawling Madras High Court campus, was formally restored and inaugurated on Sunday, marking its new identity as additional court halls for the High Court.
The revitalized heritage structure was jointly opened by Supreme Court Judge Justice Surya Kant and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, blending history with the modern demands of the judiciary.
The extensive renovation project, which cost Rs 23 crore, meticulously preserved the building’s historic Indo-Saracenic architectural character while transforming the interiors into state-of-the-art judicial facilities.
