Mumbai, 21 Oct (HS): Four people were charred to

death and ten others received serious burn injuries as a multi-storeyed building

in Washi in Navi Mumbai caught fire.

Vedika Sundar Balkrishnan (6), Kamla Hiral Jain

(84), Sundar Balkrishnan (44), and Puja Rajan (39) died in the fire. The fire

broke out on the tenth floor of Raheja Residency MGM Complex in Sector 14. The

fire reached the 11th and 12 floor posing serious problem for the

residents.

Although the exact cause of the fire was not known,

short circuit is suspected to have caused it. The building and iots electric

wiring are old.

The residents in the area have demanded a special fire

audit drive in the region.
