21 Oct (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to the brave martyrs of

the state police at the Police Memorial Day ceremony held at the Reserve Police

Line on Monday. He said that the sacrifice of the martyrs is an invaluable

asset of the state and the country, which we can never forget. Their memories

give us the immortal message of duty, discipline and public service. He said

that the state police has done exemplary work in the field of crime control,

strengthening law and order and women's safety under extremely challenging

circumstances. The Chief Minister said that a budget of Rs 4,061.87 crore has

been approved for the police department in the financial year 2025-26, which is

7 percent more than the previous year.

State

government is sensitive towards the families of martyrs: Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath said that during the year 2024-25, three brave policemen of Uttar

Pradesh, STF Inspector Sunil Kumar, Chief Constable Durgesh Kumar Singh

(Jaunpur) and Constable Saurabh Kumar (Gautam Buddha Nagar) sacrificed their

lives. The Chief Minister assured the families of the martyred policemen that

the state government is committed to taking every step with full sensitivity

for their welfare. He informed that a total financial assistance of Rs 30.70

crore has been given to 96 police personnel (including UP policemen belonging

to central forces and natives of other states).

Several

important steps have been taken to improve the well-being of police personnel

and their families: The Chief Minister stated that the state government has

taken several unprecedented steps to strengthen the morale, efficiency, and

professional competence of the police force. He stated that 2,511 cases of 90

percent GPF payments were made after the retirement and death of police

personnel, while advances were sanctioned to 108 police personnel of the Police

Headquarters Division under the Uttar Pradesh General Provident Fund Rules,

1985. Scholarships worth Rs. 51.10 lakh were awarded to meritorious children of

234 police personnel, and an additional Rs. 1.12 crore was sanctioned. Medical

reimbursements totaling Rs. 11.85 crore were provided in 519 cases under the

Health Security Act, while Rs. 6.64 crore were advanced from the Life Saving

Fund to 170 personnel. Insurance amount of Rs 11.86 crore was paid to the

dependents of 374 deceased police personnel and Rs 67.76 crore was paid to 124

dependents from the 'Baroda Police Salary Package' of Bank of Baroda.

The

government is committed to honouring dutiful policemen: The Chief Minister

informed that in honour of dutiful policemen, 34 personnel have been awarded

the President's Gallantry Medal, 11 the Distinguished Service Medal and 145 the

Meritorious Service Medal. The Home Ministry has awarded Distinguished Service

Medal to 763 personnel, while Meritorious Service Medal to 486. Chief

Minister's Police Medal for Excellent Service was awarded to three gazetted

officers. The Director General of Police presented medals of honour to 90

gazetted and 404 non-gazetted personnel. 35 Platinum, 115 Gold and 789 Silver

commendation medals were also given.

UP

Police has achieved record achievements in recruitment and training: Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath said that UP Police has achieved record achievements

in recruitment and training. From the year 2017 till now, 2.09 lakh policemen

have been recruited, which includes 34,000 women. Currently, recruitment

process is going on for 28,154 posts and promotion process for 2,391 posts. He

informed that 60,244 newly recruited policemen are being trained on hybrid

model, which includes physical, legal, technical, cyber crime and AI based

simulation exercises. Similarly, Chief Minister Yogi, while mentioning the

strong law and order of the state, enumerated other achievements of the police.

Work

with loyalty and honesty: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Uttar

Pradesh Police is the largest and most disciplined police force in the country.

It is the backbone of our security, trust, and order. I expect all police

personnel to work with a spirit of public service, dedication, and honesty and

continue to fulfill their commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a safe, sensitive,

and modern state.
