Guwahati, 21 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited Laxmipur ‘A’ Block in Baksa district and interacted with local residents, assuring that the state government is giving the highest priority to ensuring justice in the case of the late artist Zubeen Garg.

Dr. Sharma met the families of Deepak Medhi and Bidyut Kalita, who were injured during police firing on October 15 while taking the accused to Baksa district jail. He handed over cheques of ₹2 lakh each for their medical treatment and assured additional assistance if required.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also offered prayers at the Hari Temple and Shiva Temple in the block and announced ₹10 lakh each for the development of both religious sites. He urged villagers to support peace and development in the region.

The visit was attended by Health and Technical Affairs Minister Jayastha Mallabrua, MLA Phanidhar Talukdar, the District Commissioner, and several senior officials.------
