Sitapur,
21 Oct (HS): Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former minister Azam Khan offered
a different interpretation of lighting diyas on Diwali. Speaking to media at
his residence in Rampur on Tuesday, he said that people who light diyas can
burn anything, but the purpose of lighting diyas is to provide light, coolness,
and eliminate hatred. On the occasion of Diwali today, former Uttar Pradesh
minister Azam Khan further stated that he hasn't left his house for a long
time, yet many people are coming to meet him. He further stated that those who
come to meet him believe that something wrong has happened to him. He added
that this is probably the first time these people are meeting him with such
devotion. He understands that there is a lot of sacrifice behind this. I am a
direct victim. These people are deeply saddened. They understand well that
something bad has happened to me. Their sympathy is acting as medicine for me.
It is noteworthy that the former minister is currently embroiled in several
cases and has recently been released on bail after spending almost two years in
Sitapur jail.
