Sambhajinagar, 20 Oct (HS): The continuous efforts of farmers in 14 villages
under Shri Ramkrishna Godawari Lift Irrigation Project bore fruits and their
loans were waived. The Maharashtra Government issued cheques worth 63.67 crore
to repay their pending loans. The debt-ridden villages had occasion to
celebrate the Diwali festival with great enthusiasm, as loand from their 7/12
land record were erased.
Palkhed villagers had
organised a felicitation programme to celebrate their success. MLA Ramesh
Bornare was present and joy of making the farmers debt-free loomed large on his
face while handing over the cheques.
On the occasion 500
women from unorganised workers group were given sets of utensils under the
Maharashtra State Construction Workers Welfare Scheme. Educational Scholarships
totalling Rs 1.10 lakh were also disbursed to wards of unorganised workers.

Chikatgaonkar, Municipality Chief Saberbhai, Shiv Sena District Unit President
Babasaheb Jagtap, APMC Chief Ramhari Bapur Jadhav, Subhash Tambe and other
prominent persons were present.
