Bhubaneswar, 20 October (H.S.): The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Cuttack, Khilari Rishikesh has appealed to citizens to strictly adhere to pollution control regulations during Diwali celebrations to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible festival.

Addressing the media, he emphasized that only green firecrackers should be used and restricted to the time window between 7 pm and 9 pm, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB). The measure aims to minimize air and noise pollution while maintaining public safety.

The DCP also urged families to use open spaces for bursting firecrackers, advising against allowing young children to handle them. He appealed to residents to remain mindful of neighbors, elderly people, and pedestrians by avoiding firecrackers in densely populated or congested areas.

To maintain law and order during the festive period, Cuttack Police have intensified patrolling and established static deployments across key locations in the city. Dnyandeo assured that all necessary security protocols are in place to ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration.

For Kali Puja, security measures have been further reinforced, with 64 police platoons deployed throughout Cuttack to manage crowd control, prevent untoward incidents, and facilitate smooth conduct of the festivities.
