Silchar (Assam), 02 October (HS): Tension gripped Silchar’s Meherpur Batoratol area after a speeding Scorpio vehicle hit and killed a youth, identified as Sushil Das, on the spot.

According to reports, the driver of the Scorpio fled the scene immediately after the accident, triggering outrage among locals. Enraged residents set the offending vehicle on fire on the road itself.

Police rushed to the spot and are making efforts to bring the situation under control. Meanwhile, locals have demanded the immediate arrest of the driver and strict punishment.
