Road Accident in Kaimur, Bihar: Three Killed in Scorpio-Container Collision


Patna, October 2 (HS): Three people were killed in a gruesome road accident on Thursday near Chhajjupur pond on National Highway-19 under Durgawati police station area of Kaimur district in Bihar.

According to police, a Scorpio SUV traveling from Rohtas district towards Uttar Pradesh rammed into the rear of a container truck. The collision was so severe that the Scorpio was completely mangled, killing three occupants on the spot.

The deceased included one woman and two men. Seven others sustained serious injuries, of whom four are stated to be in critical condition.

On receiving information, teams from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Durgawati police rushed to the spot. The injured were pulled out of the wreckage and shifted to a nearby hospital, from where doctors referred them to a bigger medical facility due to their critical condition.

The deceased were identified as 48-year-old Muslim Ansari of Ansar Nagar in Jharkhand, 45-year-old Munna Ansari of Nekra village in Rohtas district, and 60-year-old Razia Khatoon. The injured include Hajra Khatoon, Umar Ansari, and Ashraf Ansari, while efforts are on to establish the identity of the remaining injured.Mansoor Alam Ansari, a relative of the victims who reached the Sadar Hospital in Bhabhua, informed that all of them were traveling from Nekra village in Sasaram police station area to Uttar Pradesh.

Sub-Inspector Vijendra Kumar of Durgawati police station said, “The Scorpio was on its way from Sasaram towards Banaras when it collided with the container near Chhajjupur pond. The accident claimed the lives of three people and left seven others injured. Treatment of the injured is underway.”
