Kolkata, 2 October (H.S.): A life-threatening situation was averted on Navami evening in Belda when railway police acted swiftly to save a pregnant woman and her newborn after the family’s vehicle was trapped in heavy Puja traffic near the Keshiari More level crossing.The woman, a resident of Gahira in Narayangarh block, went into labor inside the car as it remained stuck in the congestion caused by festive crowds. Relatives struggled to move the vehicle forward, but it was blocked again at the same railway crossing, compounding the crisis.On being alerted, railway police rushed to the spot and cleared the way, enabling the vehicle to reach Belda Super Specialty Hospital quickly. Doctors confirmed that both mother and child are safe, and their condition is stable.The prompt police intervention drew appreciation from bystanders, with many noting how critical the response was in preventing a tragedy during the festive rush.
