Nagpur, 02 Oct
(HS): Appreciating the work of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), former
President of India Ram Nath Kovind said, the organisation survived for 100
years because of its committed work for the nation and the society without any
discrimination relating to caste, creed, and religion.
Several
misconceptions about RSS are being projected, which should be removed by
observing its functioning and participating in its activities.
Kovind was
speaking as the chief guest for the Vijayadashami function of RSS at Reshimbag
in Nagpur on Thursday. Despite stressful situations relating to social changes
in the name of modernisation, social and economic changes, RSS continued its
work and included farmers to space scientists with equal respect, which is the
essence of Indian culture. Because of its value system, RSS survived for 100
years and is progressing, even when many organisations have eloped and forgotten.
He recalled his
association with former Sarsanghachalak Rajju Bhaiyya, work of Nanaji Deshmukh,
Dattopant Thengdi, ex-PM Atal Behari Vajpayi, and other senior functionaries, and
called it inspiring to work for the downtrodden.
With RSS,
Rashtra Sevika Samiti has been working for the empowerment of women. Women have
responsibility to inculcate values among children, which the Samiti teaches.
Keeping the disintegrating family institution intact is important. In the name
of modernisation, nuclear families, addictions, and digitization has influenced society.
The youth are
attracted towards RSS and are active through various forums to remove
addictions to narcotics and to develop a national spirit.
Kovind expressed
confidence that the contribution of RSS is important for realising the dream of a
developed Bharat by 2047.
Earlier, RSS
Sarsanghachalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat welcomed Kovind by offering a floral bouquet.
