New Delhi, October 2(HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, recalling its century-long journey and the contribution of countless swayamsevaks in the service of society and the nation.
In a reflective post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister said:
“On Vijaya Dashami, a hundred years ago, the RSS was born with the aim of working towards serving society and nation building. Over a hundred years, innumerable Swayamsevaks devoted their lives towards fulfilling this vision. Here are my thoughts.”
The grassroots organisation, founded in Nagpur on Vijaya Dashami day in 1925, has grown into one of the world’s largest volunteer movements, playing a pivotal role in social service, cultural initiatives, and nationalist discourse. Modi’s remarks come as the RSS observes its centenary year with events across India honoring its founding ideals and its long-standing role in shaping civic and community life.
The Prime Minister’s statement underlined the spirit of selfless service exemplified by RSS workers over the decades, noting that the vision of nation-building has remained at the core of the organisation’s activities since its inception.
Celebratory programs, including shakhas (training and community gatherings), cultural performances, and commemorations of historic swayamseva contributions, are being organised nationwide, reflecting on the RSS’s journey and its place in India’s socio-political landscape.
