He said, “Our players have been working hard for this tournament. The IGU introduced the national squad system last year, which is already benefiting us in international competitions. Players like Ranvir Mitro, Harjai Milkha Singh, and Krishna Chawla have been consistently finishing in the Top 10. We are confident that our team will put up an excellent performance this time as well.”

The championship was first held in 1958 at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. The United States has been the most successful nation, winning 28 medals (16 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze). Australia (14 medals), Great Britain & Ireland (11), Canada (7), and Sweden (7) make up the rest of the top five. The Tampines Course is a 7,394-yard, par-72 layout and has previously hosted several world-class tournaments such as the Johnnie Walker Classic, Lexus Cup, HSBC Women’s Champions, the Asian Tour’s International Series Singapore, and the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open.

The format of the competition will be individual strokeplay. In each round, the best two scores among the three players will be counted, and the aggregate over four rounds (72 holes) will determine the team’s final score.
