Jorhat (Assam), 19 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday attended the 19th biennial central general conference of the Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA) and the central biennial general conference of the Assam Tea Tribes Women’s Association held in Jorhat.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said he was delighted to spend some heartfelt moments with the brothers and sisters of the tea community.
He lauded ATTSA as one of the most influential organisations in Assam’s socio-political life, noting its relentless struggle since inception for the legitimate rights of the tea tribes community. Dr. Sarma also praised both ATTSA and the Assam Tea Tribes Women’s Association for their continuous efforts toward the educational, economic, cultural and social upliftment of the community.
Extending his best wishes, the Chief Minister said both organisations should continue to work dedicatedly for the progress and empowerment of the tea tribes community in Assam.
