(HS): In
the Rohania Bhadwar area of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, the SOG and
Rohania police team caught two notorious criminals in injured condition in an
encounter late on Friday night. During this, one of their companions managed to
escape from the spot. On getting information about the encounter, DCP Varuna
Zone, Rohania ACP Sanjeev Sharma and other officers also reached the spot.
After sending the injured criminals to the hospital, the officers patted the
back of the police team. A forensic team was called on the spot. The team
collected evidence of the incident.

Varuna Pramod Kumar briefed reporters on the encounter. He stated that both
criminals, Mahesh and Sandeep, are residents of Dudhli in the Jhinjhana police
station area of Shamli district. Rohania police station in-charge Raju Singh
and SOG in-charge Gaurav Singh received information late last night that the
criminals who committed the chain snatching incident in the Rohania area on
October 13 were about to flee by car via the highway. The team immediately
arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began checking vehicles in
Bhadwar. Meanwhile, the police team, seeing a car approaching, signaled it to
stop. The criminals got out of the car and fired at the police team, fleeing. The
police team chased and returned fire, shooting both criminals in the leg. One
criminal took advantage of the darkness and escaped. Police teams are
conducting raids to arrest him. The DCP stated that two .315-bore pistols and
four cartridges were recovered from the two injured criminals. The criminals
were involved in chain snatching in Varanasi city and have several cases
registered against them.
