Darjeeling, 18 October (H.S.): West Bengal government has honoured those who came forward to help the affected people during the recent landslides and heavy rains in Darjeeling and surrounding hill areas. On Saturday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee honoured a total of 42 people for helping the flood-affected people of Jalpaiguri district. The Chief Minister honoured police personnel, doctors, health workers, forest department employees, civic volunteers and civil defence members through a virtual ceremony from Kolkata. Cash awards and certificates were also given away by the Chief Minister. Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Shama Parveen and other officials presented the awards and certificates on the occasion.
