West Medinipur, 18 October (H.S.): Ahead of Kali Puja, the police from Belda police station conducted a raid against illegal firecrackers and recovered a large quantity of banned fireworks. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a shop and warehouse in the Subhashpalli area of Belda, West Medinipur district, on Friday night.

In this operation, the police arrested one person for illegally possessing and selling firecrackers. All the recovered firecrackers were also confiscated.

Belda police station officer Gobardhan Sahu said that a few days ago, a large quantity of firecrackers and their manufacturing materials were recovered during a search of a private bus on the Digha-Midnapore route. Several quintals of firecracker manufacturing materials were recovered from the bus, which was travelling from Digha to Medinipur.
